Mom and Dad's 50th Wedding Anniversary is Sunday, September 5th. They were married on Labor Day 1960...yes, on the actual Labor Day Monday. According to Aunt Patty, the hottest day of the summer. They were able to celebrate 30 healthy years together here on earth before Dad had his stroke in 1990. I remember for some of their anniversaries, we (the kids) would get a sugar baby watermelon from the garden, shoo them out of the kitchen while we would put a table cloth on the kitchen table and candles and then let them back in to celebrate with watermelon and cake. Happy Anniversary, Mom & Dad! We miss you!
